Opening a Bank Account in Spain

If you are planning on staying in Spain for longer than six months you will probably need a bank account. For foreigners in Spain there are two types of account : Resident and Non-resident accounts.

To be able to open a Spanish bank account you will need the following:

Photographic proof of identity (Passport/ID card)

Proof of occupation or status.

Confirmation of address (utility bill , driving licence , council tax bill – from within the last 3 months)

Most bank accounts can be opened immediately when taking all the correct information with you to the bank.
